Praying at home today:
By God’s grace, we can experience redemption and healing
A warm welcome to PrayingAtHome.com, where you can find worship resources for praying at home today or wherever you are.
We hope these readings, prayers, music and the short reflection will help you stay in touch with the Church and to sustain you on your journey through life.
Opening to the Word
You can spend a few moments in silence,
focussing on your breathing
to become more mindful of the present moment
and to open yourself more fully
to God’s presence within you.
Jesus said, ‘It is what comes out of a person that defiles.
For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come.
The Liturgy of the Word
Here are today’s Bible readings.
You can read just one, or all three if you have time.

Our Gospel today picks up on Sunday’s, as Jesus reminds us that it’s not what goes into a human person that makes them unclean but what comes out.
The heart, that most misunderstood organ, has the power to do great good but it also has the potential for evil.
Every day, we have choices to make and the choices that we make influence future ones (vicious and virtual circles).
By God’s grace, a vicious circle can be redeemed as a turning is made from destructive ways to a better future.
It is never too late for one to be saved.
It is never too late for someone to change their life.
But often, that impetus for change has to come from someone else, someone believing in a person, a “no-gooder”, who has been written off by society.
There but for God’s grace, go I.
By God’s grace, I too can be saved,
I can experience redemption and healing.
By God’s grace, you too can be saved,
you can experience redemption and healing,
in the depth of your being.

Music for reflection
We continue our journey in faith today:
- for all affected by the climate emergency
- with thanks for the signs of hope between Israel and Palestine
- for the people of Afghanistan
- for the Benedictine Community at Pluscarden Abbey
- for all who inspire us.
(In Holy Trinity, Stirling, we invite you to pray today
for Primus Mark and the College of Bishops.)
For all who have asked for our prayers.
a moment of silence
Pray for us all
The Lord’s Prayer
We can say the Lord’s Prayer in any language or version we choose.
Here it is, in English, Latin and French.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever.
Pater noster, qui es in cælis;
sanctificetur nomen tuum:
adveniat regnum tuum;
fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in cælo, et in terra.
Amen.
Almighty and merciful God,
by whose grace alone your faithful people offer you service and praise:
grant that we may hasten without stumbling towards the things that you promise;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
ever one God, world without end.
Returning to the world
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Thank you for joining us in praying at home.
