Praying at Home Today: Thursday 5 May 2022
Praying at home today:
I will give you a new heart
The Lord is risen!
He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
We hope these readings, prayers, music and short reflection will help you stay in touch with the Church and to sustain you on your journey through life.
Opening to the Word
You can spend a few moments in silence,
focussing on your breathing
to become more mindful of the present moment
and to open yourself more fully
to God’s presence within you.
I will give them a new heart,
and put a new spirit within them;
I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh
and give them a heart of flesh,
so that they may follow my statutes
and keep my ordinances and obey them.
Then they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Et dabo eis cor unum,
et spiritum novum tribuam in visceribus eorum:
et auferam cor lapideum de carne eorum,
et dabo eis cor carneum,
ut in praeceptis meis ambulent,
et judicia mea custodiant, faciantque ea,
et sint mihi in populum, et ego sim eis in Deum.
The Liturgy of the Word
Here are today’s Bible readings. You can read just one, or all of them if you have time.

This beautiful passage from Ezekiel is often associated with the season of Lent.
However, as part of the renewal brought about by Jesus’ resurrection, it is also most appropriate for Eastertide.
Originally intended for the people of Israel, it now applies to all of God’s people and, by extension, to all humankind.
Allowing our stony hearts to become hearts of flesh can take a lifetime and yet it is already achieved. We become what we need to become.
We are the change we want to see.
We are God’s people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, called into God’s marvellous light.
Music for reflection
In the light of the Risen Christ
we continue our journey in faith:
- for all enabling the local government elections
and that successful candidates will work tirelessly for their communities
- for refugees and migrants
- especially those who have come to our communities
that we may welcome them warmly, giving hope in place of fear

The Lord’s Prayer
in English, Latin and French
– The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever.
– Pater noster
Pater noster, qui es in cælis;
sanctificetur nomen tuum:
adveniat regnum tuum;
fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in cælo, et in terra.
Amen.
who, in the death and resurrection of your Son,
have raised up this fallen world:
may we and all your people,
whom you have saved from the gates of everlasting death,
rejoice in your eternal presence;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, world without end. Amen.
Returning to the world
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Thank you for joining us in praying at home.
