Praying at home today:
Speaking the truth from the heart
A warm welcome to PrayingAtHome.com, where you can find worship resources for praying at home today or wherever you are.
We hope these readings, prayers, music and the short reflection will help you stay in touch with the Church and to sustain you on your journey through life.
If this is your first visit to this website, then you might like to read about the common elements and the suggested structure for each day’s prayer.
Opening to the Word
You can spend a few moments in silence,
focussing on your breathing
to become more mindful of the present moment
and to open yourself more fully
to God’s presence within you.
Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart.
Qui ingreditur sine macula, et operatur justitiam;
qui loquitur veritatem in corde suo.
Celui qui marche dans l’intégrité, pratique la justice
et dit ce qu’il pense vraiment.
The Liturgy of the Word
Here are today’s Bible readings.
You can read just one, or all three if you have time.

Saying what we truly think can get us into trouble.
Yet this is a literal translation of the French version of our Short Reading.
Of course, speaking from the heart is medically impossible (or so I understand!). But it has become an established way of saying more than just as a brain activity.
Taken in connection with the other part of the verse, this is about justice and integrity, being without fault.
So today’s let’s pray that we will walk in God’s way, with integrity and blameless.
And when we fall, let’s pray for the grace to get up and continue our journey, knowing that we are forgiven.
And while we’re praying for ourselves, we can pray for those who have been convicted of crimes, that they may make this moment a moment of grace, of forgiveness, and a commitment to do what is right and just.
Only God can judge.
Music for reflection
We continue our journey in faith today:
- for the people of Afghanistan
- for those infected by SARS-CoV-2
and all who care for them
- for a fairer distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine
- for those taking part in the Tokyo Paralympics
- for all who inspire us.
(In Holy Trinity, Stirling, we invite you to pray today
for those starting a prison sentence this evening
and for all who are shielding, especially Bridget.)
For all who have asked for our prayers.
a moment of silence
Pray for us all
The Lord’s Prayer
We can say the Lord’s Prayer in any language or version we choose.
Here it is, in English, Latin and French.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever.
Pater noster, qui es in cælis;
sanctificetur nomen tuum:
adveniat regnum tuum;
fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in cælo, et in terra.
Amen.
Almighty and merciful God,
by whose grace alone your faithful people offer you service and praise:
grant that we may hasten without stumbling towards the things that you promise;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
ever one God, world without end.
Returning to the world
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Thank you for joining us in praying at home.
Oremus pro invicem.
In these strange times, we are called to trust
