Short Reflection
Today’s OT reading, from the prophet Micah, is part of the narration about Israel’s restoration.
Just a couple of chapters after the famous prophecy about Bethlehem that we read at Christmas (Micah 5:2-5a), here is hope for an embattled people.
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over the transgression
of the remnant of your possession?God does not retain anger for ever,
because God delights in showing clemency.God will again have compassion upon us.
It is Micah, too, who reminds us:
This is what the Lord God asks of you,
only this:
to act justly,
to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
