Short Reflection
As Winter turns to Spring (at last!) and we journey through Lent, we have an opportunity to pause awhile at the streams of living water, to rest and to be refreshed.
It’s all too easy to be caught up in doing, in action (of course, doing is required), but that doing, that constant activity can take over our lives.
O Sabbath rest by Galilee!
O calm of hills above,
where Jesus knelt to share with thee
the silence of eternity
interpreted by love!

There’s a reason for the Sabbath, regardless of what day we observe in practice.
And when we wait for the Lord, we find that it is God who is waiting for us:
Therefore the Lord waits
to be gracious to you;
therefore God will rise up
to show mercy to you.

As the Church celebrates the life of Cyril of Jerusalem (386),
we pray at home today, bringing before God the needs of our world:
- for the holy city of Jerusalem
that peace may prevail - for Jews, Muslims and Christians
in that sacred place - for us all
that we may seek the sources of refreshment.

We can say the Lord’s Prayer in any language or version we choose.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.

Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are yours,
